i read recently that the average ballplayer goes through about 8 uni's a year, excluding throwback and ***** league uni's.

most players wear the same cap year round and same helmet. infact, some players get pissed when the world series comes around and MLB wants them to sew the world series patch on teh side of of their nicely broken in ball cap.

Most wash and reuse. When the uniform gets a little bit crappy, they get new ones, its all about presentation of the uniform. One guy who had messed up uniform pants that ripped and he had them restitched is Jason Giambi. It's his superstition. The rip was so obvious, it looked horrible!
